Network and Systems Administrator
Hours: Full Time

POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for the planning, configuration, installation, testing, monitoring, maintenance, security and problem resolution of network hardware, software, systems and applications.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise, develop and mentor all systems : computers (win xp0, servers (unix, windows 2003), databases
(SQL Server 2005), VOIP, routers, firewalls, backup, Internet connection, etc
- Supervise and participate in the ongoing maintenance of the production, stage and development server environments as well as all related infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain a program of proactive system administration.
- Evaluate and recommend Network architecture and applications.
- Ensure the timely troubleshooting and repair of all systems-related problems.
- Develop and maintain a server recovery plan for all systems, which will include both a regular backup schedule and a tested process for data restoration.
- Help all departments in assuring that the highest level of customer satisfaction is maintained at all times.
- Develop training and mentoring classes for employees
- Write policies, procedures and other documentations.
- Assist in developing ways to reduce the amount of incoming technical support requests.
- Research new technologies that may increase corporate productivity or provide better service.
- All other duties, as assigned by the IT Director
KNOWLEDGE:
- Systems: windows XP, Windows Server 2003, SUSE Linux
- Backup: Veritas
- Firewall: Checkpoint
- Routers: Netopia, Adtran Netvanta
- Internet: T1, DSL, Satellite
- Networking: LAN/WAN, VPN, Security, Load balancing, network management
- Misc: Active Directory, DNS, Disaster Recovery
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years experience managing a small/mid scale combined UNIX/Windows server network
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to continually learn new technologies.
- Ability to multi-task in an interactive environment.
- Must be organized and detail oriented
